MATHS EVENTS

MATH STARS Program for Moroccan Children aims to enable them to refine their talents through specialized programs focused on developing intuitive abilities and solving non-routine problems.

This year, the first edition of the “MATH STARS” project was launched. The project is supported by Global Talent Network and targets children aged between 10 and 14 years.

Selected children undergo intensive training, both remotely and through an advanced program in the following fields: “Numbers”, ”Algebra”, “Logic” and “Geometry”.

Participants take several training tests, and outstanding students attend an in-person workshop that concludes with an awards ceremony to celebrate the stars of the first edition. During the ceremony, students who achieve high performance in solving non-routine problems are honored with prizes and certificates of merit signed by the association.

This year, the Moroccan Association of Mathematical Sciences, in partnership with the OCP-Phosboucraa Foundation, will launch the first edition of the “Logical and Mathematical Games” program, targeting 20 schools in the Laayoune region of Morocco.

Children selected from each school will undergo intensive in-person training through an advanced program in mathematics and logic. Participants will take several training assessments, and each team will work on a project related to mathematics and logic to present before a judging panel during the final ceremony.

At the end of the program, the top three teams with the highest performance will be awarded prizes and certificates of merit in recognition of their excellence.

Náboj is an international mathematical competition designed for teams of five high-school students that represent their schools

Math Kangaroo (also known as International Mathematical Kangaroo, or Kangourou sans frontières in French) is an international mathematical competition where over 92 countries are represented. There are twelve levels of participation, ranging from grade 1 to grade 12. According to the organizers, the key competence tested by Mathematical Kangaroo is logical combination, not just pure knowledge of formulas.

The competition was established in 1991 by André Deledicq, a professor of mathematics at the University of Paris 7, and Jean-Pierre Boudine, professor of mathematics at Marseille. The idea comes from the Australian Mathematics Competition, initiated in 1978 by Peter O’Halloran.
